Thanksgiving is upon us and CHawk is once again donating 200, 24 lb frozen turkeys to the South Hayward Parish, a local non-profit food pantry that helps those in need in the Hayward community. Additionally, CHawk held an internal food drive, collecting non-perishable food to contribute to the pantry’s food distribution.
This year, 12 CHawk employees contributed their time to volunteer 4 hours of their day with one of the pantry’s weekly food distribution events. 6 individuals joined the pantry in the morning to prepackage all the food and 6 volunteers joined the pantry in the afternoon to assist with distributing over 200 prepackaged meals to the local community.
About the South Hayward Parish
Operating for over 50 years, our mission is to make a difference in our community. Our food pantry is run through a partnership with Alameda County, the City of Hayward, and food recovery programs throughout the Bay Area! Volunteers help keep the shelter running by pre-packing food, moving pallets, and doing distribution. Our pantry serves over 700 families per week with groceries. Currently, our pantry is a drive-through offered Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2-4PM or until food runs out.
